Sioux Falls Savoy presents: Iolannthe

By Gilbert and Sullivan

The Olde Towne Dinne Threatre is hosting a two night event on Friday, April 4th at 7:00pm and Saturday, April 5th at 2pm! Sioux Falls Savoy presents, Iolanthe!

Iolanthe is a comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan, first performed in 1882. It tells the whimsical story of Iolanthe, a fairy banished from fairyland for marrying a mortal. Years later, she is pardoned and returns, revealing she has a son. Strephon is in love with Phyllis, a ward of the court, but their romance faces obstacles from the Lord Chancellor and a group of love-struck peers.

Through a series of humorous misunderstandings and magical interventions, the fairies disrupt the rigid world of British politics. The opera is a lighthearted satire of Victorian society, politics, and class.
